Queen Mother Champion Chase 2025 odds and betting news

Jonbon is the 9/4 favourite to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival in March. Forced to miss the race last year, Jonbon has excellent course form, having won the Shloer Chase there last month and finished second in the Clarence House Chase back in January.

Nicky Henderson’s eight-year-old gelding won the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown for the second year in succession on Saturday. The first horse to record back-to-back victories in that Grade 1 race since Kauto Star, the odds on him being crowned two-mile champion in March have naturally shortened. 

Second favourite at 7/2 is Gaelic Warrior, trained by Willie Mullins, who won the Arkle at the Festival in March. Another Mullins charge, El Fabiolo, is a 6/1 shot and also has Cheltenham pedigree, having beaten Jonbon into second by five and a half lengths when winning the Arkle in 2023. 

A third Mullins representative, Energumene, won the Champion Chase in 2022 and 2023 and is 8/1, while Marine Nationale for Barry Connell is a longer shot at 16/1.

For those racing fans who also follow leading jockeys, many will be hoping that Rachael Blackmore, who rode the 2024 winner Captain Guinness for Henry de Bromhead, will be in the mix next spring. 

The “Queen of Cheltenham”, who suffered a neck injury in a fall at Downpatrick in September, is on the road to recovery and says she could be back on duty in the week before Christmas.
