Strong start can settle City’s nerves

City’s previous Champions League tie resulted in an extraordinary 3-3 draw with Feyenoord, who came from 3-0 down after 74 minutes to earn a point at the Etihad Stadium.

That followed a shock 4-1 loss for Pep Guardiola’s team at Sporting on Matchday 4 and the ante-post Champions League favourites face a battle to finish in the top eight of the new-look league stage.

City had lost six of their previous seven games before beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the Premier League last week and they dropped more points in a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

However, hosts Juventus are also at a low ebb, winning only two of their previous 10 matches in all competitions, and a strong start in Turin can ease City’s nerves.

Juve have been trailing at half-time in four of their previous nine games and they had to come from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw at home to Bologna on Saturday.

City have scored first in their last four Champions League ties, breaking the deadlock in the eighth, third, fourth and 44th minutes. They should be backed to be leading at half-time and full-time.

Juventus vs Man City tip 1: Man City-Man City – half-time/full-time @ 9/4 with bet365

Juve youngster faces daunting test

Juventus kept seven clean sheets in their first eight Serie A matches this season but their defensive standards have slipped after injuries to influential centre-back Bremer and left-back Juan Cabal.

Andrea Cambiaso, Cabal’s understudy, is also likely to miss Wednesday’s game, so Swedish rookie Jonas Rouhi may be pressed into action.

The youngster faces a daunting task against City, who could line up with vastly experienced campaigners Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva on the right flank.

Rouhi was booked three times for Juventus Next Gen in Serie C last season and looks a likely candidate for a card, having played only 192 minutes of first-team football.

Juventus vs Man City tip 2: Jonas Rouhi to be booked @ 11/4 with bet365

Include Haaland strike in bet builder

Thiago Motta’s Juve have scored only seven times in five Champions League matches this season. Their most recent home game in Europe ended in a 1-0 defeat by Stuttgart and 13 of their past 16 matches at the Allianz Stadium have featured under 3.5 goals.

That looks a good first selection for our 11/2 bet builder and City striker Erling Haaland is worth adding to find the net in a low-scoring encounter.

Reunited with fit-again playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, Haaland can expect chances in Turin and, despite his side’s struggles this term, he has scored 18 goals in 20 domestic and European appearances.

Teun Koopmeiners scored his first Serie A goal of the campaign for Juve on Saturday and he poses a threat to City’s defence. The attacking midfielder averages 1.7 shots per game this season.

Juventus vs Man City tip 3: Bet builder – Under 3.5 goals, Erling Haaland to score at any time and Teun Koopmeiners to have over 1.5 shots @ 11/2 with bet365
